About Cheniere Energy

Cheniere Energy is a United States company that deals with liquefied natural gas (LNG) through its exportation and as a marketing company. In February 2016 it was the first American company to enter the market of exporting liquefied natural gas. Two years later, it entered into a contract to supply Taiwan with liquefied natural gas with distribution to begin in 2021.

The Houston Texas based operations trades on the NYSE as LNG. It was listed as a Fortune 500 company in 2018.

Founded in 1996 by Charif Souki as an oil and gas exploration company, it shifted its focus in the 21st century to developing liquefied natural gas terminals. Mr. Souki left the company in 2016.

How Coronavirus has impacted Cheniere Energy's share price

In response to the outbreak of Coronavirus, the Cheniere Energy company took precautionary measures including reducing large group meetings and non-essential travel. It also authorized home office operations where possible. It did not expect a major impact on its production. Despite its initial optimism, the future may not be quite so rosy.

March 26th

While it reported strong Q-4 financial results, the stock value has reduced about 30%.

APRIL 9TH

Cheniere plans to release its first quarter financials on April 30 through a conference call and follow up with a webcast through its website.

APRIL 16TH

Cheniere pledged over $1 million to organizations to help with food supplies, first responder equipment and provisions for healthcare workers including meals and personal protection materials. These contributions will be provided in areas where Cheniere has operating facilities or offices. This includes donations of medical supplies to hospitals in China.

April 21st

Bloomberg reported that at least 10 LNG cargoes have been cancelled by potential buyers. These shipments were scheduled to ship in June.

April 24TH

Cheniere will conduct its Annual Shareholders Meeting through electronic means. This virtual meeting will be conducted on May 14 and shareholders are able to vote through the procedures provided and proxies are encouraged.
